Stock ARK: Survival Ascended is a serious time sink. For a PvE server you actually want to log into, a few settings turn the grind into fun without making it boring. Here's a balanced starting point.
Rates: the big three
- XP multiplier: 2x–3x. Enough to progress in an evening without trivialising it.
- Harvesting: 2x–3x. Less time punching rocks, more time playing.
- Taming: 3x–5x. Vanilla taming times are brutal; this keeps them meaningful but not a second job.
Breeding — where PvE servers live or die
Vanilla breeding is measured in real-world days. For a friendly server:
- Mating interval: 0.1–0.2x so you're not waiting a day between eggs.
- Egg hatch and maturation: 5x–10x. Raising a baby shouldn't mean staying up all night.
- Imprint interval: lower it so one person can actually finish an imprint.
Quality-of-life
- Turn on auto-unlock engrams or raise the max level so players aren't starved of engram points.
- Enable flyer carry and a higher structure pickup window — small things that remove daily friction.
- Consider cryopod-friendly settings so tames aren't a storage nightmare.
Don't forget mods
Half of ASA's magic is mods — stack size adjusters, better spawns, structures-plus-style building. A good panel installs them straight from CurseForge.
